Swoosh, crackle went my skies as I zoomed down the hill.  It was Sunday morning and it was freezing.  "At least I'm wrapped up in warm clothes," I said softy to myself.  A minute later I clipped my skies on tightly and made my way to the top but just then I noticed that my mum was watching me.  I suddenly exchanged glances but I couldn't help thinking that my mum must of been expecting me to ski down the hill.  I also couldn't help noticing my low confidence level but I knew what had to be done so I took off.  Zooming down the hill I was very proud of myself and I could tell my mum was too!

What creative, artistic students we have in Room 15!

Maths Wall

Each day before we start working in our number groups we go through our maths wall.  This is a chance for us to practice the same skills over and over again! We go over place value, fractions, basic facts, time and a few other things.  Last week the students of Room 15 started running it.  Misha and Abby M both had a go and they did great! I wonder who will have a go at running it this week?

Friday Poetry Challenge

Each Friday we read a poem together.  First, Mrs B reads it to the class and we discuss what it's about and clarify any new words.  Then Room 15 echo read it - Mrs B reads a line and then they read a line back.  The next step is for different students to read a line each.  Finally the whole class read it together, focussing on reading in unison, at a steady pace and with good intonation.  We then go away and illustrate the poem according to it's content.  We always choose 5 poems that have interpreted the message in the poem the best and then we vote for our favourite!! Here's a selection of the best poems from the last few weeks.

Pick of the Bunch Recount

Each Monday in Term 1 Room 15 write recounts about the weekend.  Today we discussed all the things needed to make a recount interesting to read.  Five students read their stories to the class and Abby was voted the winner! Here's her great recount:


Mmmm I moaned as I slowly got out of bed.  I rubbed my eyes, it was Saturday morning and I seriously didn't want to get out of bed! Later in the day my heart was beating excitedly because I was going to a party at my mums friends new house.  At last when I got there I nervously stared up at the house as I walked in.  It was as noisy as an elephant having a fit.  I walked upstairs and there were loads of people but in the corner of my eye I saw a big table with lots of plates and food so I started eating.  Then I saw my brother with chips so I ran to the lounge and watched the boys play a video game while eating chips.  Finally I watched a movie.
